elEconomista.es organised the II ESG Investment and Sustainable Finance Forum, in a format of four round tables where the speakers discussed different aspects related to sustainability.
Guillermo Guerra, partner of Commercial, Capital Markets Coordinator and Corporate Governance Coordinator of the firm, participated in the round table "G for Governance" together with interesting speakers who focused on the business needs to have good corporate governance codes to ensure good practices in other segments.
"Evolution has different origins and different needs. Legislation is in steps, self-regulation at a trot and proxy advisors at a gallop. Therefore, companies not only have to ensure that they comply with what is legally required, but also with what is required by the market", Guillermo pointed out in one of his speeches.
Eduardo Orteu, Public and Regulatory Law lawyer at Gómez-Acebo & Pombo, also participated in another of the round tables to discuss, together with other speakers, the challenges and opportunities of the new green and social regulation.
"The requirements of the new directive transfer to companies the exercise of control and vigilance to ensure that social and environmental regulations are complied with. The company is going to have to face up and provide information to the administration, which can then open a sanctioning file if you don't comply", Eduardo wanted to highlight.
